A large pieced ivory and bone Buddhist shrine

Taisho/Early Showa Period
The densely carved and incised temple-like structure centered by a pair of hinged reticulated double doors decorated with rakan and opening to reveal a seated bodhisattva framed by lotus vases flanking a censer, with dark pigment accents overall, now supported on a high stepped base now fitted into a dark stained wood stand carved as a stone wall with a center staircase.
