Two Tibetan thangka

18th/19th Century
Each gilt and gouache on fabric, cut down, framed and glazed; the first of the dharmapala Kubera wearing a bodhisattva crown and warrior garments, with a nakula (mongoose) and dhvaja and seated on a lion with a green mane in a landscape populated by other mounted warriors (pigment losses); the second devoted to Tara seated in royal ease with her hands in the vitarka and varada mudras, a small figure of Kubera to the front and accompanied by a host of small bodhisattvas and Buddhas (wear).
