A lacquered wood covered box

Warring States Period/Western Han Dynasty
Raised on a high shallow foot supporting straight sides and a domed cover, the wood base covered in and out with a brown/black lacquer and embellished with broad bands of c-commas and geometric trident patterns alternating from the banded edges and heightened with yellow lacquer and gilding, fitted with paired bronze mounts on the base and a ring handle on the cover, the interior surface coated with red lacquer (one section of the base restuck, extensive restoration and stabilization to surface).
