Sri Lanka
The present cushion-cut stone is an example of what is known in the trade as a "color-change" sapphire; depending upon the of nature of the light in which it is viewed the stone exhibits either a cornflower blue or a violet color. Such sapphires are, in fact, more rare than those that exhibit merely one color or the other. It is also increasingly rare to find sapphires in this size range which have not been heat treated. This stone displays excellent luster and is of particularly wearable size. Weighing approximately 7.98 carats and measuring 12.17 x 9.97 x 7.38 mm
