Afghanistan
Long confused with chrysoberyl, yellow spodumene is actually a chemical cousin of kunzite. Traditionally found in Brazil in smaller sizes, the present example is from the rarer locality of Afghanistan. This pretty pear-shaped stone possesses a pastel lemon yellow color, having excellent transparency and luster. It is a particularly difficult stone to polish given the inherent cleavage planes and realize in such a large carats size. Weighing approximately 125 carats and measuring 39.0 x 24.0 x 18.5mm
