Citrine Carving of a Mouse

By Manfred Wild
Idar-Oberstein, Germany

In keeping with the gemstone carving traditions of Idar, this fine carving of a small mouse is a classic—it incorporates gem-quality transparent material, weighing a sizeable 355 carats, in this case golden yellow citrine from Brazil, with a naturalistic depiction of the animal kingdom. Complete with detailed texturing of fur and tail, small cabochon sapphires form the eyes, signed M. Wild, weight: 355.5 carats, length 2in.
