Malbunka Copper Mine, Northern Territory, Australia
This fascinating cabinet specimen is a shockingly bright blue "disk", diameter approximately 2in, of azurite on a matrix of kaolinised siltstone. Crystallization in a flattened disk formation, with radial spokes of azurite is typical of this locality, but not of any other locality of azurite of which we are aware, measures 3 ¾ x 3 x 2in.
