Toussit, Morrocco
In the late 1970s and early 80s a small group of azurites exploded onto the mineral market that rivaled the best from the classic azurite locality of Tsumeb, Namibia. This superb specimen showcases why Toussit is now considered a contemporary classic for fine azurite. Azur blue crystals up to 7cm are aesthetically arranged on a bed of transparent gem azurite crystals up to 1.5 cm. There is an alteration to malachite on many of the crystals that generates a striking color contrast. One of the greatest azurites from any locality—this is a superb connoisseurs specimen—large and intact and rarely seen in today’s market, measures 14.3 x 5.8 x 7.0cm.
