Chondrite
Sahara, North Africa
It is believed that chondrules often contain relict olivine grains that did not crystallize in situ. Study of this fall provides opportunities to decipher how chondrule components evolved. The LL3 Sahara fall was discovered in 1997. The specimen represents a complete slice with fusion crust (the melted rind of the specimen which formed under the pressure and heat of the meteorite's descent), weighs 89.5 grams; measures 108 x 81 x 3millimeters
