Sikhote-Alin Shrapnel with Three Holes

Iron 11AB, Coarsest Octahedrite
Maritime Territory, Russia

Three natural holes - a rarely seen attribute - and a myriad of delicate flow lines adorn this distinctive example of a shrapnel type Sikhote-Alin meteorite. The enormous explosion that tore this meteorite into thousands of pieces over Siberia in 1947 is expressed here in raw, sharp, shrapnel-like edges. An attractive gunmetal gray color complements the many desirable features of this unique specimen, measures 3.5 x 1.5in; weighs 321.2g (0.7lbs)
