Columbian Mammoth Jaw

Mammuthus columbi
Late Pleistocene
Peace River, Florida

One of the largest mammoth species that ever lived, the Columbian mammoth grew up to 13 feet in height and weighed up to 10 tons. This behemoth possessed impressive curled tusks and was exclusive to North America. The present Mammuthus columbi mandible is possibly one of the largest ever found, with minimal restoration. Included with this lot is a compact disc showing the collection of the specimen from the Peace River in Florida, with documentation from a mammoth expert supporting the size claims on this incredible specimen. Measures 25 x 24 x 23in
