Capturing a rare snapshot of life in the Eocene, a fish perished while in the process of predating upon another fish. The struggle was preserved in stone as the dying fish sank to the bottom and was covered by silt, its fossilized bones to be discovered 51 million years later. Known as an aspiration, this presentation is a rare occurrence preserving a very unusual moment in time. Five complete or partial Knightia eocaena specimens are also present.
