Exceptional American Trilobite

Arctinurus boltoni
Mid-Silurian
Rochester Formation, Middleport, New York

Arctinurus boltoni is a rare American Trilobite famous for its unique and striking appearance. Its wide, wing-like body is covered with tiny postules, which may have displayed sensory whiskers to detect prey as it lay buried in the ocean bottom. This exceptional specimen is complete, exhibiting excellent head, eyes and raised postule detail. The source quarry of this unusual 420-million-year-old specimen has been permanently closed, further adding to the high demand for this uncommon species. Specimen measures 4 x 3 1/4in; Matrix measures 8 1/4 x 6 1/4in
