English School (Mid 19th Century), British Infantry Field Officer C.1848-1855, Full Length Portrait Oil On Canvas The subject is shown in full dress scarlet coatee with gold lace and green facings, Oxford mixture overalls and carrying his 1844/55 pattern shako in his right hand. An 1822 pattern sword is contained in a gilt brass scabbard. His gold lace box epaulettes show silver ornament on the straps and in the crescents, the narrow waist belt is of white leather and bears a rectangular gilt plate.
