A rare Meissen plate of flowers

circa 1765-70
Probably modelled by J.J. Kaendler, the naturalistically modelled and coloured flowers and leaves tied at the stems with a blue ribbon, applied to a plate with a wavy rim with a pierced border of green ribbons entwined with a zig-zag border, 25cm diam., traces of crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed 10

A plate of this description was in the List Collection, Magdeburg, sold Hans W. Lange, Berlin, 28-30 March 1939, lot 758 (unillustrated). A similar flower bouquet on a plate with a different, slightly earlier, pierced rim, attributed to J.J. Kaendler circa 1761, is illustrated in Bursche 2007, ill. 14.
