The exterior painted in Böttger lustre, enamels and gilding with indianische Blumen issuing from stylised rockwork and a butterfly, the interior painted in underglaze-blue in Chinese style with a bird below stylised bunches of grapes, embellished in polychrome enamels with a band of stylised foliage and flowers, the rim with an underglaze-blue scrollwork border, 8.8cm high, 15.9cm diam.,

Two teabowls and saucers and a hot water jug from the same service were offered in the Sotheby's sale in 1986, lots 264-266. The depiction of the phoenix beneath stylised hanging grapes is derived from a Chinese pattern (Barsewisch, loc. cit.).
