Footnotes

This piece was carefully modelled on Othello, Barbara Hulanicki's Great Dane. Steven Thomas took great care to reproduce the dog's defining features including the shape of the white patch on his coat. Tony Graysmark from FTV, a film and theatrical prop company was then commissioned to manufacture the stand, which was subsequently located in the Biba Food Hall, to display cans of dog food.

Provenance: This lot did not appear at the 1975 Bonhams auction and it is believed that it was purchased by Billy Butlin directly from Biba. It was apparently used at one of the Butlins holiday camps to display their leaflets, before being acquired by the present owner.

Illustrated: 'Welcome to Big Biba', Steven Thomas and Alwyn W Turner, p.43'.
