An English Bullet Crossbow
Late 18th/Early 19th Century

With slender iron bow with later string, built-in gaffle retained by a sprung catch at the rear, sprung folding back-sight and fore-sight, the latter mounted above the button finial, figured flat-sided tiller (extensively repaired) stamped 'Roy King Blackpool' on the inside and with gun butt, iron mounts comprising scrolled side-plates, butt-plate and trigger-guard, and modern silver escutcheon engraved 'W. Barker Wigan c. 1780' (iron parts with some pitting)
