An English Cup-Hilt Rapier
Early 17th Century

With tapering blade of slightly hollowed triangular section double-edged at the point, iron hilt comprising guard pierced with petals each framing trelliswork and with downscrolled quillons above joined to a ring with pierced border above, the latter linked by scrolled side-bars to the knuckle-guard, large fluted ovoidal pommel with flat button, and later spirally-grooved wooden grip bound with twisted silver wire (some pitting overall)
