A Composite Scottish Basket-Hilted Backsword
Last Quarter Of The 17th Century

With tapering blade double-edged towards the point and with narrow fuller along the back on each side, the forte incised with various marks including a cross on both sides, iron ribbon guard of broad partly line engraved flat bars (some damage and repairs) forming irregular openings involving a circular panel on each side, flat disc-shaped pommel with button, and later spirally-grooved leather-covered grip (pitted overall)
