With bright slightly curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point, the forte on each side etched and gilt with designs of foliage against a blued ground, hilt comprising recurved scroll quillons of circular section, silver ferrule, pommel-cap embossed with a floret centred on the button, and earlier tapering spirally-grooved ivory grip inlaid with brass piqué scrollwork and bound with twisted silver wire, in original wood-lined scabbard covered in tooled brown leather (some scuffing) with silver locket, chape and suspension mount, the first signed on one side and embossed and punched with a stylised lion and two fasces with rococo ornament on the other, frog-button, and two rings for suspension
