A German Left-Hand Dagger
Late 16th Century

With sharply tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section with central fuller over most of its length on each side, fullered ricasso struck with three 'X' marks on one side, iron hilt comprising downbent quillons of circular section with terminals each of three graduated compressed spheres, side-ring and pommel en suite with the quillons, and swelling tapering wooden grip set along each side between deeply cusped ferrules with four longitudinal reinforcing-strips (one incomplete, some pitting overall)
