A Fine Left-Hand Dagger
Early 17th Century, Probably English

With tapering blade of stiff diamond section with deeply cut central fuller flanked by two slender fullers on each side, the central fuller pierced with minute circular holes and keyhole slots over most of its length, rectangular ricasso en suite and recessed for the thumb on one side, iron hilt with straight flat quillons widening towards the tips, small side-ring, barrel-shaped pommel with button finial, and original spirally-twist grip bound with copper ribbon and fine twisted copper and iron wire, the guard and pommel encrusted in silver on both sides with running foliage involving feathered cherub's heads against on punched ground (some rust patination)
