A Rare English Silver-Mounted Plug Bayonet
Circa 1685

With tapering hollow-ground blade (some light pitting) double-edged towards the point and struck with a star mark on one side of the forte, and a comet mark on the other, figured hardwood grip (split) of tapering circular section with compressed swelling at the base, and silver collar and quillons each struck with maker's mark, the pommel and quillons each terminating in a cast helmeted warrior's head, silver maker's mark WK conjoined in a shield, for William Knight
