A Fine Turkish Flintlock Blunderbuss With Silver-Gilt Mounts
Reign Of Selim III (1789-1807)

With russet barrel decorated overall with encrusted silver chased and engraved with designs of foliage, flared muzzle encircled by bands of silver and brass, and struck on the left side of the breech in Arabic script 'Work of Darwish Amrallah', long tang encrusted with engraved silver foliage, rounded lock and cock decorated en suite, full stock entirely covered in silver-gilt panels cast, pierced and chased in relief with symmetrical designs of flowering scrolling foliage, secured by pins and against a ground of silver or white-metal sheets, the butt involving a foliated oval on each side, butt-plate cast and chased with symmetrical designs en suite against a finely punched ground and inhabited by a pair of birds at the heel, trigger-guard cast and chased with flowers in relief, barrel mounts en suite with the stock, incorporating a sight, and secured by a locking pin along each side, false ramrod also en suite, rectangular suspension loop, and in fine condition retaining nearly all its original gilding
