A 14-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Rifle From The Armoury Of The Nizam Of Hyderabad
Signed Manton, Dover Street, No. 5279, Early 19th Century

With rebrowned twist sighted barrel rifled with seven grooves, signed in gothic script along the top flat at the breech and stamped with Hyderabad inventory number on one side, platinum-lined touch-hole, foliate scroll engraved tang, signed flat lock (some surface patination), figured half-stock with cheekpiece and chequered grip, the butt with silver-plated hinged rectangular patch-box cover, foliate scroll engraved silver mounts comprising butt-plate and serial numbered scroll trigger-guard with vase and pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheons, one crescent-shaped, silver ramrod-pipes and fore-end cap, and horn-tipped ramrod, Birmingham proof marks
