Late 17th Century
With finely watered tapering slightly recurved double-edged blade cut with two shallow converging fullers either side of a medial ridge on both sides, silver-mounted hilt comprising downcurved bird's head quillons with red pigment-filled eyes, shaped pointed langet over the forte on each side, slightly curved ovoidal guard with roped border and bud-shaped terminal over each quillon, beaked grip of oval section flat along each side, basal mount pierced with running foliage filled with red pigment, beaked faceted pommel-cap with cusped lower border below a line of small drilled dots on each side, and surmounted by a spiral bud-shaped finial on a pierced quatrefoil (one leaf missing), in its wooden scabbard covered in purple velvet (very worn and damage)
