The Blade Dated 1081 A.H. Corresponding To 1670 A.D., The Hilt And Scabbard Lucknow, 18th Century
With curved single-edged blade inlaid in gold on one side at the forte with a cartouche enclosing the maker's name Ali Isfahani in taliq script, a gold-inlaid amulet (wafk) above to one side, silver hilt finely chased and polychrome enamelled with flowering foliage inhabited by a pair of birds and a waterfowl on each side of the swelling grip, pointed langets, and polychrome enamelled ram's head quillons and pommel, in original wood-lined silver scabbard (some damage along the back) with chape and suspension mounts all decorated en suite with the hilt, the scabbard including diagonal streams alternately inhabited by waterfowl and fish (enamel damaged and incomplete)
