An Indo-Persian Shamshir
Early 19th Century

With curved fullered single-edged blade (rusted and pitted) retaining some gold-damascened decoration on both sides at the forte, hilt comprising gold-damascened quillon-block with pointed langets, quillons with button terminals, grip-strap with traces of gold damascening, bevelled bone grip-scales, iron pommel-cap (rusted), and textile wrist strap woven with a design of birds and geometric patterns, together with its original wooden scabbard (some damage, chape missing) covered in black leather tooled with designs of scrollwork and foliage, and iron suspension mounts en suite with the hilt
