An Egyptian Silver-Mounted Shamshir
Tanta Silver Marks, Circa 1920

With slender slightly curved blade double-edged towards the point and with two fullers over most of its length on each side, hilt comprising downscrolled quillons cast and chased with foliage, grip-strap chased en suite, and rounded ebonised grips (minor split), the pommel pierced for a sword-knot, in original wooden scabbard (broken at the chape) covered in black leather with locket, chape and suspension mounts with borders en suite with the hilt, and two rings for suspension
