An Indian Khanjar
19th Century, Probably Kutch

With slightly recurved single-edged blade, gilt-copper hilt pinched-in at the base and engraved with scrolling foliage overall against a punched ground, the pommel formed in the round as a horse's head, the details including bridle, open mouth and turquoise eyes, in original gilt-copper scabbard pierced and engraved with flowering foliage along each side and lined with wood covered in burgundy velvet (gilding worn, particularly on the scabbard)
