A 54-Bore Air Rifle
Signed Spencer, Almost Certainly Matthew, Lynn, Mid-19th Century

With rebrowned turn-off twist octagonal leaf-sighted polygroove rifled barrel signed on the top flat at the breech, foliate engraved action (engraving worn and partly refreshed) retaining traces of case-hardening and decorated with a hare behind the pierced cocking-lever, circular loading aperture with transverse breech-block operated by an engraved side-lever, foliate scroll engraved trigger-guard, detachable butt reservoir covered in black leather, figured fore-end with silver escutcheon engraved with owner's initials, horn cap (minor damage on one side), and later brass-mounted ramrod; together with an iron bullet mould and a modern pump (3)
