A Fine Cased Colt 1849 Model Pocket Percussion Revolver
No. 296806 L For 1867

With blued octagonal sighted barrel with New-York address, blued cylinder with roll engraved stagecoach hold-up scene, case-hardened frame stamped 'Colt's Patent' on the left side, case-hardened hammer and rammer, blued steel trigger-guard and back-strap, varnished figured rounded grips, matching numbers, and virtually all its original finish (minor loss of finish in places): in lined and fitted oak case, probably original (lock replaced, keyhole escutcheon missing) with accessories including James Dixon & Sons 'Colt's Pocket Flask' (cut-off spring incomplete) with long nozzle and retaining much of its original lacquered finish, and blued steel bullet mould (bruised) stamped 'Colt's Patent', the interior of the lid with illustrated Directions label with 14 Pall Mall, London address, the exterior with circular vacant brass escutcheon, London proof marks
