A Netherlandish 20-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol with Fire-Gilt Barrel, Lock And Mounts

With iron barrel covered in brass (some wear to gilding) and engraved with foliage around the fore-sight, tapering sighting flat, breech cast and chased in relief with the figure of a seated Classical warrior holding the severed head of a foe against a partly engraved trophy of arms, a pair of addorsed putti above and a coat-of-arms in a cartouche between, all against a ground of engraved foliage, grooved engraved tang, signed border engraved flat bevelled lock (worn) faced in gilt-brass engraved with foliage and cast and chased with an angel on a trophy of arms on the tail, cock faced in brass en suite, and steel chiselled with a foliated grotesque mask, moulded figured full stock carved behind the rear ramrod-pipe and around the barrel tang, cast and chased mounts en suite with the barrel and comprising pierced foliate side-plate involving demi-monsters, crowned escutcheon with oval portrait medallion above bound captive supporters, spurred pommel, trigger-guard with pierced finial, faceted baluster ramrod-pipes, later horn-tipped ramrod, and much original gilding (trigger replaced)
