An Unusual Continental 32-Bore Rifled Long-Barrelled Flintlock Pistol In The English Fashion
Signed Triebel A Milau (?), Late 18th Century

With earlier Turkish tapering sighted barrel rifled with seven grooves and with faceted flared muzzle with silver line borders, inlaid in silver (worn) with symmetrical designs of scrollwork and foliage at the breech, mid-section and around the silver fore-sight, and along the breech flat in gold including the date '1661', border engraved tang carrying a back-sight, flat bevelled lock (cock and steel old replacements) with roller and signed in gold, figured moulded full stock (minor damage) carved with a shell behind the barrel tang, rounded butt fitted with an oval iron mount for a shoulder-stock (missing), mounts comprising iron flat bevelled side-plate, vacant silver trophy of arms escutcheon, butt-cap cast with a flower-head centred on the retaining screw and with a grotesque mask beneath, iron trigger-guard with acorn finial and engraved with a trophy of arms on the bow, and later ramrod (some wear and rust patination overall, rear ramrod-pipe damaged)
