A Spanish 40-Bore Brass-Mounted Miquelet-Lock Pistol
Late 18th Century

With octagonal barrel (some pitting and now polished bright, minor repair on the sighting flat) becoming circular towards the moulded muzzle-ring, plain tang, characteristic lock (some pitting, mainspring missing) with brass pan, moulded figured full stock carved with foliage behind the tang, foliate engraved mounts secured by brass nails and comprising shaped flat side-plate, spurred faceted pommel, trigger-guard inhabited by a bird on the bow, pierced trigger-plate, large crowned escutcheon, and turned faceted ramrod-pipes, the rear one with long extension pierced and engraved with foliage (ramrod and fore-end band missing)
