A Pair Of German 50-Bore Percussion Pistols
Circa 1830

With octagonal sighted barrels each inlaid at the breech with engraved silver and gold foliage centred on gold crossed arrows, rifled with thirteen grooves, and stamped 'G. & W.P. 1837, WG. 1831' beneath, white-metal fore-sights, octagonal breeches each inlaid with silver triangles between silver lines, tangs inlaid with silver and gold foliage and each incorporating an adjustable back-sight, flat detented locks each inlaid in silver and gold with two crossed bows and quivers within a waved silver line border, dolphin hammers each inlaid with a sliver and gold cornucopia (silver partly missing from one), figured full stocks with chequered rounded butts and flat ovoidal pommels, iron mounts comprising ovoidal pommel-plates drawn-out to a blunt point and inlaid en suite with the locks, border engraved spur trigger-guards each inlaid in silver and gold with an engraved martial trophy on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes, set triggers, dark horn fore-end caps, and brass-mounted ramrods (iron parts with minor rust patination) (2)
