A Rare French 8MM Giffard 1862 Patent Breech-Loading Air Gun For Ball Or Shot
No. 1196, Circa 1865

With reblued sighted barrel with integral hand-operated pump beneath, circular loading-aperture with wing-headed tap stamped 'P. Giffard Breveté', circular reblued action engraved with trailing vines, tang en suite and incorporating the hammer, highly figured stock (fore-end split, repaired flat to the left of the action), and reblued mounts comprising butt-plate and scroll trigger-guard en suite with the action
