A .577 Snider Three-Band Service Rifle Musket
By J. Aston, Hythe, Circa 1865

With browned sighted barrel retained by three blued barrel bands, calibrated folding adjustable back-sight, case-hardened pivoting breech-block, chained nipple-protector, signed border engraved case-hardened flat lock and rounded hammer, the former stamped 'R. & W. Aston' on the inside, figured three-quarter stock with chequered grip and fore-end, regulation brass mounts, sling loops, ramrod, probably original, muzzle with rare 'The Blanch' brass muzzle-plug also forming an oil-bottle and stamped 'Regd. Aug. 1st, 1861', and in refinished condition, Birmingham proof marks
