The body, engraved J. Purdey & Sons/No. 13033, with browned damascened finish, the ends capped with knurled brass discs, the rear section with reciprocating buffer, the blued mounts and rings with dovetail fitting

The makers have kindly confirmed that rifle no. 13033 was built as a .400 rifle with 'telescopic fitted', and was completed in 1888 for Lord Paget.
There is no reticle present, but traces of wire suggest that it may have originally had a cross-hair reticle
