With two-stage turn-off cannon barrel engraved with a band of foliage at the rear, the breech engraved en suite, foliate engraved tang secured by a screw and with trefoil-shaped finial over the breech, border engraved action signed beneath the steel-spring (top jaw and screw replaced), moulded figured globuse butt with raised 'side-plate' and carved foliage around the tang, and trigger-guard with trefoil-shaped finial and engraved with foliage on the bow (some pitting in places), London proof marks and Foreigner's mark

David Toillier is recorded as a gunmaker at Little Minories in 1703. He was a member of the French Church and was granted naturalisation in 1709. He was allowed to prove guns by the Gunmakers' Company as a 'foreigner' between 1721-31
