A 50-Bore Flintlock Turn-Off Pocket Pistol
By R. Garroad, London, Circa 1730

With two-stage cannon barrel, breech engraved 'London' and with a panel of foliage behind, foliate engraved tang, border engraved action signed beneath the steel spring, figured globose butt with foliate apron around the tang, border engraved brass mounts comprising side-plate and trigger-guard both decorated with foliage, and border engraved fore-end plate extending back to form the trigger-plate (iron parts with some rust patination), London proof marks and indistinct maker's mark

Robert Garroad was apprenticed to Francis Smart in 1714. He was free of the Gunmakers' Company in 1722 and was elected Master in 1740
