A 40-Bore D.B. Flintlock Travelling Pistol

With russet twist sighted barrels signed in gold gothic script along the rib, recessed patent breeches each engraved with a martial trophy between gold lines, platinum-lined touch-holes, foliate engraved tang, signed border engraved flat bevelled locks (cocks and retaining screws replaced) each with stepped tail and decorated with a starburst and a martial trophy, engraved safety-catches (one replaced), swept platinum-lined rainproof pans (platinum removed from one), and rollers, figured half-stock (minor splits, chipped around one lock) with pinned silver reinforcing plates on either side of the tang and in front of each lock, chequered rounded butt with engraved silver but-cap, steel trigger-guard engraved with a martial trophy on the bow, trigger-plate with engraved silver finial formed as a pineapple in an urn, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, the former engraved with owner's initials, and later ramrod (rear ramrod-pipe missing), London proof marks
