A 28-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol
By Charles Warren Of London, Late 17th Century

With shortened three-stage barrel, octagonal breech becoming polygonal and retaining faint traces of maker's name along the top flat, tang engraved with strawberry foliage, signed border engraved rounded lock decorated with strawberry foliage, cock en suite (top jaw, screw and mainspring replaced), moulded figured full stock (probably an old replacement) with apron around the barrel tang and foliage behind the rear ramrod-pipe, steel mounts comprising engraved foliate scroll side-plate, shaped escutcheon retained by pins and engraved with foliage, border engraved globose pommel decorated with strawberry foliage on each side, and trigger-guard with foliate finials and engraved with strawberry foliage on a raised oval on the bow, later turned baluster ramrod-pipes, and later wooden ramrod (some wear and rust patination overall), London proof marks and maker's mark

Charles Warren was apprenticed to Josiah Cook in 1677, free of the Gunmakers' Company in 1684 he is recorded as Gunmaker to Ordnance in 1697
