A Pair Of German 25-Bore Long Flintlock Holster Pistols
Early 18th Century

With swamped barrels each with sighting flat and brass fore-sight, breeches each engraved with a standing figure against a stand of flags in front of a ramped flat, the flats numbered '1' and '2' respectively, tangs each with grooved back-sight, border engraved flat bevelled gilt-brass locks each engraved with figures seated amid martial trophies (one top jaw and screw replaced), moulded figured full stocks (one fore-end partly replaced, one grip repaired) carved with foliage in relief behind the barrel tangs and in front of the trigger-guard finials, full gilt-bronze mounts comprising side-plates cast, pierced and chased with foliage involving a pair of monsters centred on a satyr's head, escutcheons en suite and each centred on a profile head in an oval, spurred border engraved pommels each with separate cap cast and chased with symmetrical scrollwork framing an engraved crowned monogram, border engraved trigger-guards each with foliate finial, turned and faceted ramrod-pipes, scroll triggers, horn fore-end caps, later horn-tipped ramrods, and some original gilding (2)
