A Rare Pair Of German Trimmers
Dated 1665(?)

Of iron and of scissor form, hinged together at the top and cut with cusping along the outer edges, the blades on one side etched and gilt with religious inscriptions in old German script above and below the figures of Peace and Fortune respectively, all between panels of gilt foliate strapwork against hatched grounds, and on the other with similar decoration including the owner's name 'W. Fr. von Kameke', and each side centred on the owner's crest, a crowned plumed helm above, integral looped handles of tapering circular section, and much original gilding (some pitting overall)
21 cm.
