Two German Or Austrian Horn Powder-Flasks For Wheel-Lock Sporting Rifles
Mid-18th Century

The first of curved flattened form tapering to the nozzle carved in the round as a hound's head, the edges with moulded lines, one side with brass mount pierced with three apertures for spindles and retained by two side-nails against flat brass plates pierced with scrollwork, and horn base-plate; the second of similar form with turned and moulded nozzle, one side with iron mount for three spindles, retained by two side-nails and with finial pierced and engraved with rocailles, and with wooden base-plate (2)
