A Brass-Mounted Mahogany Two-Tier Gun Case
By J. Purdey, 314½ Oxford Street, London, Mid-19th Century

Fitted and lined in green baize (some partitions missing) for a pair of d.b. percussion sporting guns and accessories, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label (minor staining), the exterior of the lid (minor split) with circular brass escutcheon engraved with owner's monogram, a form of coronet above, and centred on a circular flush-fitting carrying handle, the ends with folding brass carrying handle on a brass-plate with clipped corners
