A Rare Roman Gladius
2nd-3rd Century A.D.

In excavated condition, with broad double-edged pattern-welded blade slightly waisted towards the point and of slightly hollowed section forming a medial ridge over its entire length on each side, hilt comprising oval guard with upper band showing original copper brazing, flat tapering tang retaining three oval iron shims, and canopy-shaped pommel
