A Composite Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Last Quarter Of The 17th Century

With broad tapering double-edged blade cut with two narrow fullers on each face of the forte, iron 'ribbon' guard of flat broad bars (minor damage, top ring an old replacement) involving saltires, circular panels and an 'S' on each side, rear guard of slender bars, rudimentary fore and rear quillons, later compressed globular pommel, and later spirally-grooved wooden grip (some wear and pitting overall)
